<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:145%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Walnut Street, Rainforest Parkway projects scheduled for construction April 15-19</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Public Works Street Division plans to install speed tables on two Council-approved projects, April 15-19, weather permitting. The first project is a pedestrian safety project scheduled to begin on Walnut Street between College Avenue and Melbourne Street. The second project is a traffic calming project on Rainforest Parkway between Providence Road and Range Line Street.<br /><br />Both streets will remain open during construction but will be reduced to one lane while crews are working. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zones. Minor delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to consider using alternative routes if possible.<br /><br />Crews plan to install the speed table on Walnut Street just west of Melbourne Street beginning Monday, April 15, weather permitting. The speed table is designed to slow traffic to improve the safety of students and
 
  others crossing Walnut Street on the Stephens College campus. The project was approved by City Council on Nov. 5, 2018 after a public hearing, as well as an interested parties meeting Aug. 8, 2018. The estimated investment for the project is $5,000 paid for through annual traffic safety funds. More details are available at <a href="http://CoMo.gov/PublicWorks/Walnut-safety" target="_blank">CoMo.gov/PublicWorks/Walnut-Safety</a>.<br /><br />Once the Walnut Street speed table is completed, crews will move to the traffic calming project on Rainforest Parkway. Crews plan to install two speed tables and a speed hump to slow traffic and improve safety on the street. The speed tables will be installed at the intersection of Panther Drive and at the intersection of Crocodile Drive. The speed hump will be installed west of Monsoon Lane.<br /><br />Rain Forest Parkway, which was No. 5 on the <a href="https://www.como.gov/publicworks/wp-content/uploads/sites/28/2018/02/NTM-2017-Year-E
