(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The Columbia Police Department served a search warrant at 1701 Hanover Blvd. on Friday, April 26 at approximately 3:45 p.m. The warrant was served with the assistance of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) after a narcotics investigation was conducted in partnership with the East Central Drug Task Force, the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and detectives with the Vehicle, Narcotic and Organized Crime Unit (VNOC).

Detectives seized a package from a local package delivery service after a Columbia Police K-9 detected the odor of narcotics omitting from the package. A search warrant was obtained for the package, and approximately 5 pounds of methamphetamine was found in the package.

Detectives organized a controlled delivery of the package to the intended address. The occupants of the residents accepted the package and afterward a search warrant was obtained for the residence. SWAT made entry and located the package and a total of 12 guns inside. Three of the guns had been reported stolen. Both occupants of the residence were convicted felons, which prohibits the possession of firearms.

The occupants of the residence were arrested for narcotics and firearm charges. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.

The Columbia Police Department wants to thank the East Central Drug Task Force, MSHP and DEA for helping keep Columbia safe.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to please contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or Crimestoppers at 573.875.TIPS to remain anonymous
