(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced Monday, May 13, that access to Ash Street from Providence Road will close as part of its ongoing Americans with Disability Act (ADA) improvements on Providence Road.

Installation of new ADA improvements to Providence Road will require crews working for the MoDOT to close off access to Ash Street this week.

Ash Street will be closed at the Providence Road intersection beginning Tuesday, May 14 at 9 a.m., weather permitting. Work in this area is scheduled to be completed and the roadway reopened by the end of the week.

MoDOT has placed message boards advising motorists to find an alternate route while work takes place. Access to area businesses will continue, according to MoDOT.

This closure is part of an ongoing project that began earlier this year to make upgrades in Columbia in order to meet ADA requirements. Work includes making improvements to pedestrian signal systems, replacing sections of sidewalk, adding new curb ramps and creating new portions of driveways.

MoDOT appreciates the patience of motorists while work is taking place.

For more information, contact Central District Communications Manager Adam Pulley at (573) 522-3375 or MoDOT Communications at (573) 751-3322.
