<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don Schnieders excavating, the contractor for the City of Columbia’s Ballenger Lane shoulder widening project, plans to install new culvert pipes under Ballenger Lane and Rice Road, weather permitting. This work will result in an overnight closure on Ballenger Lane just south of Oakview Drive beginning Tuesday, May 28 at 8 p.m. and reopening Wednesday, May 29 by 6 a.m., weather permitting. This will be followed by an overnight closure of the access to Rice Road at Ballenger Lane on the west side beginning Wednesday, May 29 at 8 p.m. and reopening Thursday, May 30 by 6 a.m., weather permitting.</span></p>

"</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Due to site constraints in both of these locations, we need to close the road for a very short period of time at these specific points to install them. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">To help alleviate traffic disruptions, we have planned the work overnight to avoid the rush hour.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">"</span></p>

<p><strong>Closure: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ballenger Lane just south of Oakview Drive</span></p>
<p><strong>Date/Time: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">May 28 at 8 p.m. to May 29 at 6 a.m.</span></p>
<p><strong>Alternate Routes:</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Needing to go south, take Mexico Gravel Road to Vandiver Drive, Highway 63 or Lake of the Woods Road (and vice versa); needing to go north, take Clark Lane to Highway 63 or Lake of the Woods Road (and vice versa)</span></p>

<p><strong>Closure: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Access to Rice Road at Ballenger Lane (west side)</span></p>
<p><strong>Date/Time: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">May 29 at 8 p.m. to May 30 at 6 a.m.</span></p>
<p><strong>Alternate Routes:</strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Take McKee Street or Hanover Boulevard to Clark Lane (and vice versa)</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Motorists, nonmotorized transportation users and pedestrians are urged to use extreme caution in the work zone and to use alternate routes.</span></p>
<br />
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Public Works Department thanks residents and drivers for their patience as these improvements are made to Rice Road and Ballenger Lane. The Ballenger Lane improvement project is a Capital Improvement Program project for the City of Columbia. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The investment for the project is estimated at $2.2 million, funded with the 2015 Capital Improvement Sales Tax, the County Road Tax and cost share from the Missouri Department of Transportation. The project passed through the City's public involvement process, which included an interested parties meeting on June 13, 2017, followed by a public hearing and final approval by the City Council on Dec. 18, 2017.</span></p></div>
