The app is based on the longstandi
ng Columbia/Boone County Resource & Referral Guide, which PHHS has published for decades.

The idea for an app version of the Resource & Referral Guide came from conversations with the Columbia Police Department Community Outreach Unit (COU). In their work as part of the City's Strategic Plan to increase social equity, the COU officers identified a need for access to information about local health and human services. Rather than building a separate guide PHHS Human Services Manager Steve Hollis suggested using the existing Resource & Referral Guide as the foundation for an app.

"The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services has dedicated itself to being a community leader in resource referral," Hollis said. "This app will dramatically cut down on the time residents would otherwise spend tracking down information across multiple platforms, while ensuring they are receiving the most accurate information available."

The CoMoResources app provides residents with ease of access to up-to-date information about the various health and human services throughout the community, including: basic needs, children/youth services, crisis help numbers, health/medical services, housing, justice/legal services, adult education/literacy, aging and disability services, domestic and sexual violence, employment services and financial counseling.

The app was developed in partnership with the City's Information Technology and Community Relations departments. The document version of the Guide can always be accessed on the PHHS website: CoMo.gov/CMS/healthserv/public.php.
