<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Box culvert extension on Ballenger Lane scheduled to begin June 17</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City of Columbia’s Ballenger Lane shoulder widening project contractor, Don Schnieders Excavating, plans to extend a box culvert under Ballenger Lane just south of the Mexico Gravel Road roundabout beginning Monday, June 17 at 7 a.m. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The work is expected to take approximately three weeks, weather permitting. </span></p>
<h3> </h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Box culverts are designed to divert water under the roadway rather than over it. The box needs to be lengthened to allow for the shoulders being added to the roadway and to flatten the slope on the embankment slightly to improve safety.</span></p>
<h3> </h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">During construction, one lane of Ballenger will remain open in alternating directions at all times with a portable traffic signal on each end controlling the direction of traffic. This will allow motorists to continue to use the street and move steadily through the area without the need for flaggers. Minor delays are expected.</span></p>
