<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:200%;"><h3 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 170%;">Mill and overlay operations scheduled on Smiley Lane, Brown School Road, June 17-20</h3>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City of Columbia Public Works Street Division </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">plans to mill and overlay sections of Smiley Lane and Brown School Road on the west side of the Range Line Street intersections </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">beginning on Monday, June 17 at 7 a.m., weather permitting. Crews plan to complete the work by Thursday, June 20 at 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. Mill and overlay is a paving process designed to improve the smoothness of a street without having to totally reconstruct it. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">City crews plan to start milling Smiley Lane on June 17 and complete the asphalt overlay by June 19, weather permitting. The milling of Brown School Road is expected to begin June 19 with paving completed by June 20, weather permitting. (See location diagrams.)</span></p>
<br />
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Range Line Street intersections will not be closed during paving operations. Two-way traffic will be maintained during the work with flaggers to assist motorists through the workzone. Please follow the instructions of flaggers at all times. Minor delays are possible.</span></p>
<br /><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the mill and overlay process</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">, crews remove the surface of the street and replace it with new asphalt either immediately or within a day or two. Driving on a milled street is permitted, but motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to use caution in the workzone. Once the asphalt is laid and steamrolled, it can be driven on almost immediately.</span></div>
