<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City of Columbia Sewer Utility is holding an interested parties meeting Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1C of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, to discuss the upcoming private common collector elimination (PCCE) 25 sewer project located near South Glenwood Avenue and Redbud Lane.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> The proposed plan will be available for public review and City staff will be present to answer questions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The purpose of this meeting is to present the revised plan for disconnecting properties from the private common collector in the area, constructing a new public sewer and connecting these property laterals into the new system. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Construction is anticipated to take place in the next three to five years and has been revised from the previous plan due to new data that decreased the size and scope of the project. Investment for this project was originally estimated at $610,000 and will likely be less with the newly revised scope. The project will be paid for with the 2013 Sewer Bond funds and the Sewer Utility - Enterprise Revenue Fund.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Private common collectors are major sources of inflow and infiltration of stormwater into the sewer system. By replacing the outdated, private sewer and connecting these properties into the publicly maintained sewer, the City can reduce the occurrence of backups and overflows. </span></p></div>
