A 24-person plow crew scheduled to report at 7 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 15 for snow operations

(COLUMBIA, MO) -
City of Columbia Public Works plans to have a 24-person crew report at 7 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, to monitor road conditions and to treat priority routes.

Snow is currently expected to begin at approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday. Hills, bridges and intersections along major routes have been pretreated with a brine solution, which helps ice and snow from sticking to the pavement. Due to temperatures, snowfall rates and possible accumulations of 4 to 8 inches, roads are likely to be overcome with snow at various stages throughout the day. Crews will continue to treat and plow priority routes until they are passable by a front wheel drive vehicle. If snowfall exceeds 4 inches, crews would plow and treat all roads to a passable condition once priority routes are near normal.

Motorists are encouraged to stay tuned to local forecasts, give themselves extra time for their commute and be prepared to drive with extreme caution. The City of Columbia will use all available resources to respond to ensure the safety and well being of our community members.

Additional updates will be available on the City’s social media pages: Facebook and Twitter - @CoMoGov and @ColumbiaMissouriPublicWorks. Details about priority routes and winter weather response are available at CoMoSnow.com.
