(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The City of Columbia Sanitary Sewer and Stormwater Utilities are holding an interested parties meeting Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, to discuss the upcoming Hickman, Sixth & Seventh Street Stormwater Improvements / Fifth Street to Wilkes Relief Sewer Project.

The purpose of this meeting is to present the plans for a phased effort to reduce the incidence of flooding from stormwater while replacing a failing box culvert near the intersection of Sixth Street and Hickman Avenue. A sewer relief project will also be coordinated with the stormwater work to increase the capacity of the neighborhood sewers from Fifth Street and Rogers Street to Seventh Street and Wilkes Boulevard. The work will include providing an overflow path for floodwater to get out of the neighborhood, replacing 295 feet of concrete box culvert and installing approximately 1,800 feet of new sewer to improve sewer capacity through the neighborhood.

Information and diagrams showing preliminary concepts will be available for public review, and City staff will be present to answer questions.
