(COLUMBIA, MO) -
Columbia Police officers are investigating the details regarding the occurrence of two overnight shootings. Currently, CPD has four people of interest detained.

On Friday, Jan. 10, at approximately 1:03 a.m., on duty officers heard gunshots and witnessed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near Highland Drive. Suspects failed to stop after officers activated emergency lights and sirens. Shortly after their pursuit of the vehicle, officers received calls from Boone County Joint Communications to report shots fired in the area.

Both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle in the 2500 block of Providence Road and continued to flee on foot. Both were located and detained for further questioning.

Officers also responded to the 100 block of Garth Avenue at approximately 4:22 a.m. to a report of a burglary in progress. While en route, officers were notified shots had been fired. Officers received a call about a potential suspect at the hospital with a gunshot wound and determined he may have been connected to the burglary. Two suspects were detained. Officers will question the suspect with the gunshot wound upon release.
