<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City of Columbia Public Works Street Division plans to begin plowing and treating all City streets beginning at 1 p.m., Jan. 24. Crews will begin plowing neighborhoods on the outside edge of the City and work toward the inner neighborhoods. A 22-person City of Columbia Public Works plow crew reported at 7 a.m., Jan. 24, to work on priority routes replacing the overnight crew. A new crew is currently being planned for 7 p.m. this evening to continue addressing all streets.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When snow accumulates to 4 inches, all City streets are plowed and treated to a </span><a href="https://www.como.gov/comosnow/home/examples-of-passable-roads/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">passable condition</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 24/7, according to City policy. Although a street may still be snow packed, a street is considered passable once an inspector determines that at least one travel lane is accessible for a front wheel drive vehicle at driving speeds well below the normal posted speed limits. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City encourages all residents to voluntarily move their vehicles off all streets; however, parking enforcement will only occur on priority routes. Vehicles parked on </span><a href="https://www.como.gov/comosnow/priority-snow-routes/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Designated Snow Routes</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, or priority routes, are subject to ticketing and towing at the owner’s expense. Whenever snow accumulates more than 2 inches, any vehicle parked on a designated snow route should be moved off the roadway or risk a fine of $100 plus towing and storage charges. The purpose of this City Ordinance is to provide plow drivers the space needed to do their work more quickly, efficiently and safely.
