<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">Columbia Parks and Recreation is planning a series of events in February to commemorate Black History Month. All events are free, and the public is welcome to attend.</p>

<p>An African-American history exhibit will be available on weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., throughout the month of February. The display is open at the Armory Sports Center, 701 E. Ash; individuals and groups are welcome to view the exhibit.</p>

<p>A Film Fest will be held throughout the month with movies scheduled every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Armory Sports Center. The film schedule is:</p>
<p><em>42</em> on Feb. 5, <em>The Help</em> on Feb. 12, <em>Barry</em> on Feb. 19 and <em>Lean on Me</em> on Feb. 26.</p>

<p>Black History Month will continue with the annual Gospel Explosion and Soul Food Dinner. It will be held at 4 p.m. on Feb. 23 at St. Luke UMC, 204 E. Ash. This year’s program will feature gospel artists and groups from the central Missouri area. Following performances, there will be a soul food feast. Covered dishes are welcome.</p>

<p>The month-long celebration will conclude with an oral history presentation on Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Armory. Staff member Teresa Gorman will share information about historical figure Willie Lynch.</p>
