<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police investigating assault outside U.S. Post office, 511 E. Walnut</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">At</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">approximately 1:36 a.m., Feb. 24, CPD was notified that a man had been assaulted with a pole at 511 E. Walnut St., inside the lobby of the U.S. Post office located in downtown Columbia.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The victim was reported to have left the U.S. Post office and walked to the Columbia Police Department after the assault. Offi</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">cers made contact with the man in the lobby of the police department and emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to a hospital to treat life-threatening injuries.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Eddie B. Linzie, 43, of Columbia, was arrested for assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. Linzie remains in custody at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is an ongoing investigation, and there is no additional information to release at this time</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
