<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <br /><strong>Thursday, April 2 summary</strong><br />The number of positive cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Boone County is currently 69 with 30 who have recovered at the time of publishing. Thursday’s Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CoMoHealthDept">Facebook Live</a> video topic included information about how to talk to children about the coronavirus. See some of the information below. Also below is information about changes to PHHS in-person clinical services, the April 2 City Council meeting and the cancelation of the household hazardous waste collection dates for April.<br /><br /><strong>Cases in Boone County</strong><br />

Children process information based on their brain development. At certain ages, children may try to fill in gaps of information. Children also may hear bits and pieces of news or conversations from friends and try to put it together to make sense. Sometimes this results in very creative ideas about what is happening which can lead to unnecessary fears. >CoMo.gov/Health/Wp-content/Uploads/Sites/13/2020/04/Handout-Helping-Children-Cope.pdf</a>.<br /><br />Beginning Monday, April 6, Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services will be offering some clinical services remotely in order to better protect residents, staff and the community from the coronavirus. This process is subject to change if needed over the coming weeks. Wednesdays will be the designated day of the week to offer in-person services deemed necessary. PHHS intends to have one administrative support assistant, one nurse and one nurse practitioner available each Wednesday to provide these services. These will NOT be walk-in services but will be scheduled after a phone visit (573.874.7453) deems the in-person visit necessary.<br /><br /><strong>Changes to City services</strong><br /><em>City Council</em><br />The Columbia City Council will meet Monday, April 6 to conduct their pre-council meeting at 6 p.m. followed by the council regular meeting at 7 p.
m. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), residents will notice some differences in how the meetings are conducted. Please do not place hazardous waste items at the curb for residential refuse collection.
