<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <br /><strong>Tuesday, May 5 summary</strong><br />The number of positive cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Boone County is currently 97 with 91 who have been released from isolation at the time of publishing. Tuesday’s Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services Facebook Live video discussed ways for residents to give back to the community. Also below is information about the delayed adoption of the City’s 2020 Strategic Plan and information about Columbia Municipal Court.<br /><br /><strong>Cases in Boone County</strong><br />

The partners are working together to quickly determine and meet the needs of our region during the coronavirus pandemic.<br /><br />There are a few options for those in our community who have the means and the desire to give back to the community:<br /><br />Donations to the Community Foundation Of Central Missouri provide aid to nonprofit service providers struggling with the urgent health and economic effects of the coronavirus. Grants are awarded to meet cr
itical needs in health care, education, arts and culture, animal welfare and more, to help ensure wellness and economic recovery in central Missouri.<br /><br />Donations to the Heart of Missouri United Way provide emergency funding to support local people who are struggling in the economic fallout from the pandemic; 100% of donations support health and human service organizations that meet vital needs.<br /><br />Residents can all share their time by volunteering through Volunteer Columbia to address community needs as a result of the pandemic.<br /><br />To view these options to give help and to see how to get help, please visit <a href="http://www.CoMoHelps.org">CoMoHelps.org</a>.<br /><br /><strong>Changes to City services</strong><br /><em>Strategic Plan</em><br />To allow the City Council and City staff to focus on the immediate issues at hand related to the coronavirus pandemic, the adoption and implementation of the 2020 Strategic Plan have been delayed. There might
also be changes to the draft Plan that better fits the current climate.<br /><br />Currently, the tentative timeline is to bring the Plan back to City Council in October. In the meantime, City staff members will reevaluate the outcome objectives to see what changes might need to be considered in the current climate.<br /><br />Updates can be found by visiting <a href="http://www.CoMo.gov/Strategic-Plan">CoMo.gov/Strategic-Plan</a>.<br /><br /><em>Municipal Court</em><br />The Columbia Municipal Court continues to operate under limited public access until further notice. Except as set forth in the 13th Judicial Circuit Administrative Order, all cases through May 15, 2020, will be postponed to a later date.<br /><br />New court dates will be mailed to defendants or their attorneys to the address on file with the court. To update an address, contact the court at MunicipalCourt@CoMo.gov or call 573.817.5022.<br /><br />Written guilty pleas are accepted via email at MunicipalCour
t@CoMo.gov or by fax at 573.874.7531.
