<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><strong>Tuesday, May 12 summary<br /></strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">The number of positive cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Boone County is currently 100 with 94 who have been released from isolation at the time of publishing. There are no new cases from the previous update. Below is information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about when individuals should wear gloves.</span></p>

<p><strong>Health message<br /></strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">The CDC advises the general public to wear gloves when cleaning and disinfecting a home or when caring for someone who is sick. Wearing gloves outside of these instances will not necessarily protect from getting COVID-19. The CDC recommends the best way to protect from germs is to social distance (maintain six feet) from others and wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The CDC recommends the following tips for wearing gloves:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Use disposable gloves when cleaning surfaces that are frequently touched and areas around a person who is sick.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Use disposable gloves when in contact with blood, stool or bodily fluids.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Do not disinfect or reuse disposable gloves. Always throw disposable gloves away in a lined trash can.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Always wash your hands after you remove disposable gloves.</span></li>
</ul>
