<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <br /><strong>Tuesday, May 19 summary</strong><br />The number of positive cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Boone County is currently 105 with 96 who have been released from isolation at the time of publishing. There are no new cases from the previous update. Below is information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about warm weather and COVID-19. Also below is information about the new Boone County Information Hub and information about the reopening of the Activity & Recreation Center pool.<br /><br /><strong>Cases in Boone County</strong><br />

Some other viruses, like those that cause the common cold and flu, spread more during cold weather months but that does not mean it is impossible to become sick with these viruses during other months. The CDC states that there is much more to learn about the transmissibility, severity, and other features associated with COVID-19 and investigations are ongoing.<br /><br /><strong>Changes to City services</strong><br /><em>Boone County Information Hub</em><br />A community briefing was held Tuesday, May 19, to discuss t
he launch of a new COVID-19 information hub for the City of Columbia and Boone County. The recording of the community briefing can be found here: <a href="https://gocolumbiamo.granicus.com/player/clip/2034?view_id=13">gocolumbiamo.granicus.com/player/clip/2034?view_id=13</a>.<br /><br />The hub will serve as a resource for the community, medical professionals and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services. The hub can be viewed by visiting <a href="http://www.CoMo.gov/Coronavirus">CoMo.gov/Coronavirus</a> and clicking on "Boone County Information Hub."<br /><br /><em>Parks and Recreation</em><br />The Activity & Recreation Center (ARC) is phasing in another amenity this week with the reopening of the water zone on May 20 at 5:45 a.m. All guidelines for pools as outlined by Health Order 2020-05 will be followed.<br /><br />These Water Zone amenities and programs will resume this week, with additional programs to be added the following week. The hydro
therapy pool will not open at this time, per Health Order 2020-05.<br />

<li>Little swimmers</li>
<li>Rec swim</li>
<li>Water fitness classes will resume May 27</li>
</ul>
<br />For the safety of patrons and staff, the following guidelines will be in place: <br />
<ul>
<li>Capacity of the water zone will be 75 and will be maintained in cooperation with facility capacity guidelines.</li>
<li>Poolside seating/benches will not be provided. Guests may bring their own chair. </li>
<li>Concessions will be available during rec swim hours.</li>
<li>Maintain 6-feet of distance with others outside of your immediate household.</li>
<li>Staff will be sanitizing common touch points throughout the day. Deep cleaning will take place each night. </li>
<li>Patrons entering the facility will be denied access if any of these symptoms have been present within last 72 hours:
<ul>
<li>Temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater</li>
<li>Coughing</li>
<li>Shortness of breath</li>
<li>Chills</li>
<li>Repeated shaking with chills</li>
<li>Muscle pain</li>
<li>Headache</li>
<li>Sore throat</li>
<li>New loss of taste or smell</li>
<li>Close contact with person with any of those symptoms, or positive COVID-19</li>
</ul>
