<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: black;">Columbia Parks and Recreation is holding a public input meeting regarding proposed improvements to East Walnut Street that would allow for the construction of the Hinkson Creek Trail extension from Stephens Lake Park to Clark Lane. The drop-in meeting will be held at the Riechmann Pavilion, Stephens Lake Park, 2300 E. Walnut St., on Thursday, June 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. <br /><br /></span></p>
<p style="margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: black;">Construction of the trail was approved by City Council last June. Preliminary plans had included repurposing an abandoned road bridge on the north side of East Walnut to use as a trail connection. However, structural engineers have determined the bridge is not safe for pedestrian or bicyclist use.<br /><br /></span></span></p>
<p style="margin: 12.0pt 0in 12.0pt 0in;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; color: black;">Parks and Recreation staff are proposing a modification of the existing East Walnut Road bridge and are seeking input at the June 4 meeting. Staff will be available to share preliminary designs, answer questions and take comments. Social distancing guidelines will be enforced during the meeting.<br /><br /></span></span></p>
