<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">As the Independence Day holiday quickly approaches, the Columbia Police Department and the Columbia Fire Department reminds residents that discharging and/or possessing fireworks within the City of Columbia limits is prohibited.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The City of Columbia Ordinance (Section 16-234) prohibits possessing, using, burning, exploding or setting off any firecrackers, torpedos, bombs, rockets, pinwheels, fire balloons, Roman candles or any other firecrackers or fireworks other than a sparkler.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Community members are encouraged to leave the fireworks to the professionals. The City’s fireworks display begins at approximately 9:15 p.m. on July 4 and will be launched at Cosmo-Bethel Park, 4500 Bethel St. The display will be </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">choreographed to music simulcast on BXR 102.3</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If residents have fireworks complaints, they are asked to call the Boone County Joint Communications non-emergency line by dialing 311. Callers should only dial 911 in the case of an emergency. The Columbia Police and Fire departments wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July.</span></p>
