<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police investigate a report of shots fired near Ninth and Cherry streets on Oct. 3</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Columbia Police responded to the area of Ninth and Cherry streets at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 for shots fired incident. During the investigation, evidence was located that indicated shots were fired. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There were no injuries or property damage reported during this incident. While officers were canvassing the area, witnesses provided a subject description that was later confirmed after officers reviewed security camera footage from the area.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The suspect was located in the area of 10th and Elm streets and was identified. He was detained and </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While searching the area for further evidence on Sunday morning, officers located the firearm in the area of Ninth and Elm streets. Officers were able to determine that the firearm was used in the shots fired call and had been reported stolen from a vehicle (2020-008550) on Sept. 12 in the 2900 block of Clark Ln. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There is no further information to provide at this time, as this is an active investigation. </span> </p>
