<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police assist in fire investigation in the 3200 block of Monsoon Lane, One Fatality</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">At approximately 2:17 p.m. on October 31, the Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to the 3200 block of Monsoon Lane to a residential structure fire.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The first arriving unit observed </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">smoke coming from inside the windows. Once inside, firefighters located a deceased male. The male was identified as Hoyt Hayes, 68, of Columbia. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Next of kin has been notified.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Based upon a preliminary investigation, a detective with the Columbia Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to assist the Fire Marshal. Further investigation determined no foul play was suspected.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There is no further information to release at this time due to the ongoing investigation.</span></p>
