<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <div dir="ltr">
<p dir="ltr">The City of Columbia Housing Programs Division (HPD) is pleased to announce 49 additional businesses throughout Columbia and Boone County will be supported through Boone County CARES Act funding.  Each locally owned small business will be awarded $10,000 in grant funding to help sustain operations resulting from negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The hard work of the HPD and ability to go beyond their normal daily job duties is helping our community assist 49 eligible businesses and ensure $490,000 of federal assistance stays within our local economy. </p>
<p>The division received an overwhelming response of interest in the program due to the help of many local partners’ outreach including the Columbia NAACP, Minority Men's Network, Boone County, Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Regional Economic Development Inc. (REDI), Centralia Chamber of Commerce, Rocheport Area Merchants Association, Southern Boone County Chamber of Commerce, City of Hallsville, City of Ashland, City of Centralia and the Boone County Office of Emergency Management. </p>
<p>Throughout 2020 the Housing Programs Division will have allocated over $1.1 million in assistance to locally owned small businesses. Funds disbursed in 2020 will help 128 businesses maintain operations throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, affecting over 400 jobs supported by locally owned small businesses. Over 70 of the 128 businesses assisted in 2020 are minority or women owned businesses. </p>
<p>HPD will maintain a waitlist of eligible businesses unable to be served this round, for future potential funding opportunities.</p>
