<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">UPDATE - Homicide: Victim dies as a result of an assault in the 200 block of Orchard Court, Feb. 15</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Maya Leah Nicole Wootton, 33, of Columbia, died Thursday, Feb. 18, due to injuries sustained on Feb. 15 from a gunshot wound. Next of kin has been notified. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lt. Matt Stephens said, "Initially, this case was being investigated as an assault, however, because the victim died as a result of the injuries sustained in the assault, the Criminal Investigations Division is now treating this case as a homicide investigation." </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lucas Gordon Harper, 34, and Elizabeth Emily Dye, 25, both of Columbia, were arrested for their involvement and were remanded to the custody of the Boone County Jail after their arrest. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Columbia Police responded to a request for a well-being check at a residence in the 200 block of Orchard Court on Feb. 15. Officers located Wootton, who had sustained life-threatening injuries, inside the residence.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is an ongoing investigation and is being handled by CPD’s Criminal Investigation Division. More information may become available at a later time.</span></p>
