<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) announces that the Public Health Orders for Columbia and Boone County will expire effective at 11:59 a.m. on May 12, 2021. Although the Health Orders are expiring, PHHS Director Stephanie Browning strongly recommends that residents continue COVID-19 mitigation efforts. <br /><br />Columbia Mayor Brian Treece, Boone County Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill and Browning spoke at a community briefing May 3 to discuss the possibility of the Health Orders expiring if positive case numbers remained low between May 3 and May 12. The video of the community briefing can be viewed here: <a href="https://gocolumbiamo.granicus.com/player/clip/2303?view_id=13&redirect=true">https://gocolumbiamo.granicus.com/player/clip/2303?view_id=13&redirect=true</a>.<br /><br />The five-day rolling average of new COVID-19 cases is 8. There are 19 tota
 l positive cases in Boone County hospitals, 3 of which are Boone County residents. As of May 10, there have been 81,314 residents who have received their first dose (45.1% of Boone County population) and 69,043 have completed their vaccinations (38.3% of Boone County population). Anyone 16 and older wanting to receive the COVID-19 vaccine is currently eligible and a list of where to get a vaccination can be found by visiting <a href="https://www.como.gov/CovidVaccine/">CoMo.gov/CovidVaccine</a>.<br /><br />PHHS strongly recommends that individuals, families and businesses continue to follow CDC guidance related to wearing masks, social distancing and gathering in large groups. <br /><br />"Some local businesses may continue to require masks and social distancing in their establishments and we will support them in those decisions. We ask that members of our community respect the decisions of those business owners," Browning said. "Just because the Health Or
 ders are expiring, that doesn’t mean the pandemic is !
 over. We will continue to closely monitor the data of positive cases, hospitalizations and deaths."<br /><br />City and County officials have stated that masking and social distancing will still be required in their facilities.</div>
