<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Finance department has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for its Fiscal Year 2020 budget. <br /><br />In order to receive the award, the department had to meet nationally recognized guidelines. These guidelines ensure the budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. <br /><br />"The City of Columbia is striving to meet and exceed our community’s expectations for a quality financial plan that is transparent and accessible," Director of Finance Matthew Lue said. "The Finance department is staffed with innovative, professional people and I am happy to see them recognized for their work."<br /><br />Having a budget that meets these standards helps the City manage resources and helps residents more easily understand how the Ci
