<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - June 1 marks the beginning of LGBTQ+ Pride Month 2021, as recognized by Columbia Mayor Brian Treece in a City proclamation. Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services continuously works to create an inclusive environment where all residents feel safe, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or gender expression. The department strives to follow the Principles of Community the City Council unanimously adopted in 2018: <a href="https://www.como.gov/principles-of-community/">CoMo.gov/Principles-of-Community</a>.<br /><br />In honor of Pride Month, Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services is reminding community members of available sexual health services offered at the department. <br /><br />PHHS is now offering consultations for Pre-exposure Prophylaxis, also known as PrEP. PrEP is a medicine people at risk for HIV take to prevent getting HIV fro
 m sex or injection drug use. When taken as prescribed, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV. In addition to offering prescriptions for PrEP, PHHS will also work with clients who qualify for payment assistance through partnering programs such as Gilead or Ready, Set, PrEP and help establish care for those taking the medication. The PrEP consultation clinic is available on Mondays from 3-5 p.m. Call 573.874.7356 to schedule an appointment. <br /><br />PHHS continues to offer comprehensive testing for sexually transmitted diseases including gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis. Testing is $20 for Boone County residents and University of Missouri, Stephens College, Columbia College and MACC students, or $40 for those living outside Boone County. Free rapid HIV testing is also available. Appointments are available Monday through Friday. Call 573.874.7356 to schedule. <br /><br />In order to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, PHHS conducts a condom d
 istribution program. Free condoms, oral dams and lube are a!
 vailable at the department, 1005 W. Worley St.<br /><br />PHHS offers reproductive health and birth control services in a safe and affirming environment. This includes PAP smear screenings, testicular and breast exams and referrals, and referrals for pregnancy and prenatal care. <br /><br />Additionally, PHHS is a safe space for members of the community as a warming and cooling center with gender-neutral restrooms. Social service programs are also available to all community members, including pregnancy support, utility assistance and prescription assistance. For more information, please call 573.817.6430.</div>
