(COLUMBIA, MO) -
Columbia Police responded to a report of a homicide of a child on Monday, June 28, at approximately 12:14 p.m. in the 2900 block of Range Line Street. The person reporting the homicide stated that he had killed a three year old child and disposed of the body in the woods.

Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter around the caller’s residence. Officers were able to make telephone contact with the caller and were able to convince him to come out of the residence.

The suspect exited the residence with both hands concealed behind his back. Multiple commands were given for the subject to show his hands to officers and, upon doing so, it was discovered he had wrapped knives in both hands. The subject ignored multiple commands to drop the knives and began to advance toward officers with the knives remaining in his hands.

Officers deployed a Taser on two separate occasions as the suspect continued to advance towards them with the knives still in his hands. The use of the Taser rendered the desired effect and Raul Bravo, 29, of Columbia, MO, was taken into custody for 1st degree assault on law enforcement.

Bravo was transported to the University of Missouri Hospital for observation.

During the investigation, officers located the child, who was found to be safe and at a different location with a family member.

There were no further injuries during this incident.

This is an ongoing investigation. More information may become available at a later time.
