<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police arrest one suspect involved in a disturbance in the parking lot of Columbia Mall, 2300 Bernadette Dr., August 1</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">At approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 1, Columbia Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Columbia Mall, 2300 Bernadette Dr., for a disturbance. Through reports from Boone County Joint Communications, officers learned there was an adult male assaulting an adult female in the parking lot. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Through further investigation, officers learned the male suspect attempted to run over the victim with a vehicle. The suspect continued assaulting the victim by grabbing the victim by the hair and dragging her into the vehicle. </p>
<p dir="ltr">The suspect vehicle was described as a silver SUV last seen traveling north on Stadium north of I-70. </p>
<p dir="ltr">At approximately 2:08 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Gus Ct. to a report of a verbal altercation. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle from the prior disturbance at the Columbia Mall incident. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Further investigation revealed 34-year old Joseph Jones of Columbia had assaulted an adult female victim at the Columbia Mall.</p>
<p dir="ltr">As a result, Jones was arrested for domestic assault in the first degree, armed criminal action, and second degree kidnapping and has been remanded to the custody of the Boone County Jail. </p>
<p dir="ltr">This case is being handled by the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and is an ongoing investigation. More information may become available later.</p>
