(COLUMBIA, MO) -
The City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs presents the annual Celebration of the Arts fundraiser on September 1, 2021 at the MU Health Care Pavilion at Clary-Shy Park. The event is hosted Dr. Robert Doroghazi and supports the Columbia Arts Fund. As an endowment, the fund provides perpetual support for nonprofit arts organizations in Columbia.

"Growing the fund will support more arts programs and events in Columbia, expanding access and appreciation," said Sarah Dresser, manager of the City’s Office of Cultural Affairs. "We are thrilled to have Dr. Doroghazi continue his longtime support of the arts by hosting this year’s event."

The event will feature performances by city-funded arts agencies and will highlight the City of Columbia Bicentennial Commemorative Poster. This year’s poster features artwork by local artist Ken Nichols titles "Sometimes It’s A Door," which was unveiled by Mayor Brian Treece on June 10, 2021. Additionally, the City will recognize an individual for their continued and significant support of the arts through their work with a city-funded nonprofit arts organization. The public is invited to attend this special event that celebrates the arts. Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with representatives from city-funded arts organizations and receive a complimentary signed poster.

The event is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with the award presentation at 7:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit comoarts.com or contact the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs at 573-874-6387.
