<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia Mayor Brian Treece has declared Saturday, Aug. 7 as Karissa Schweizer Day. <br /><br />Treece presented a signed copy of the proclamation Friday declaring Saturday as Karissa Schweizer Day to University of Missouri Track and Field Coach Brett Halter in the Council Chambers in City Hall. <br /><br />Schweizer represented the University of Missouri in Columbia in track and cross country from 2014 to 2018. During her time at Mizzou, she earned All-American honors eleven times. She also holds six records at the University and is a six-time NCAA Champion. <br /><br />Schweizer qualified as silver medalist in the 5,000m and 10,000m runs in the U.S. Olympic trials. On Saturday, she will compete in the 10,000m run in Tokyo. <br /><br />"As Karissa Schweizer runs her final event in the Tokyo Olympic Games, we wish her the best of luck," said Columbia Mayor Brian Treece
