<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">The City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs hosted the annual Celebration of the Arts fundraiser for the Columbia Arts Fund on September 1, 2021 at the MU Health Care Pavilion at Clary-Shy Park. The event was hosted Dr. Robert Doroghazi who hosted the first Poster Party (as it was known then) in 1995 at his home to around 35 people. Over the years the event has grown to be held in public venues and host 200-300 guests. This year, several of the event's previous hosts and commemorative poster artists were among those in attendance.<br />Since 2015, the city has also paid special recognition to a member of the arts community, a volunteer or staff member who has made a significant impact to one of the city’s funded arts organizations. Out of the many worthy submissions, The Office of Cultural Affairs was thrilled to recognize Mrs. Lucy Vianello for her contribution
 s to the arts with a presentation made by Mayor Brian Treece.<br /> Lucy Vianello was nominated by The Missouri Symphony Society’s executive director Trent Rash for helping to create The Missouri Symphony over fifty years ago in 1970. For decades she served by her husband’s side, Maestro Hugo Vianello, also helping to create the Missouri Symphony League, volunteering in the office, and keeping up on all the latest trends in the symphonic world. Lucy was dedicated to advancing the mission of educating young symphonic musicians and making music more accessible to our community, including concerts in local parks, shopping malls, and even detention centers. In addition, she traveled with her husband as they toured across Missouri to various cities, playing concerts that those communities would otherwise not have had access to. <br />When her husband retired over twenty years ago and moved out of the limelight, Lucy continued to be active in all Symphony projects 
 and leadership. She inspired hundreds of individuals to support the arts and make our community one of the very few of our size which can boast about having a professional symphony orchestra. Lucy she has been the Missouri Symphony’s longest-serving board member to date. In the words of the Symphony’s executive director, "Lucy truly inhabits the spirit of everything that the Missouri Symphony stands for, and we are grateful she established such a strong foundation that has stood the test of time. Her entire life has been dedicated to this organization, and we firmly believe it is a life worth celebrating."<br />The event also featured booths and performances by city-funded arts agencies and highlighted the 29^th annual City of Columbia Commemorative Poster. This year’s poster features artwork by local artist Ken Nichols titled "Sometimes It’s A Door" and was unveiled on June 10, 2021. This year’s Commemorative Poster
  can be purchased at the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau at 300 S Providence for $20 each. Previous year’s posters are also available for $10 each.</p></div>
