<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">COVID-19 booster vaccinations recommended for some groups, Saturday clinics scheduled in October</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - After review, recommendation and authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine are now recommended for some groups of people.<br /><br />For individuals who have received both doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least six months prior and have a qualifying factor, a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine can be administered.<br /><br />Qualifying factors for Pfizer booster doses include:<br />
<ul>
<li>Age 65 years or older.</li>
<li>Age 18 or older with an underlying medical condition (includes cancer, chronic kidney disease, chronic lung disease, neurological condition, diabetes, down syndrome, heart condition, HIV infection, immunocompromised state, liver disease, overweight, pregnancy, blood disorder, smoking or history of smoking, organ transplant recipient, stroke or cerebrovascular disease and substance use disorder).</li>
<li>Age 18 or older who work in high-risk settings (includes first responders, health care workers, firefighters, police officers, congregate care staff, education staff, teachers, support staff, daycare workers, food and agriculture workers, manufacturing workers, corrections workers, U.S. Postal Service workers, public transit workers and grocery store workers).</li>
<li>Age 18 or older who live in a high-risk setting (includes long-term care facilities, correctional facilities and homeless shelters).</li>
</ul>
<br />Residents with questions about their qualifying factors should speak to their health care provider. At this time, there is no booster recommendation for the Moderna vaccine or Johnson & Johnson vaccine.<br /><br />Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, 1005 W. Worley St., will have COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the office each Saturday in October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. These clinics will be open to anyone who needs a first, second, third or booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine or a dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Individuals 12 years old and older are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine while the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available for individuals aged 18 and older. dose of the Pfizer vaccine at a PHHS clinic will be required to sign an attestation form stating they are eligible to receive the vaccination based on the qualifying factors.<br /><br />A list of other Boone County vaccinators can be found by visiting <a href="http://www.CoMo.gov/CovidVaccine">CoMo.gov/CovidVaccine</a>.</div>
