<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">UPDATE: Columbia Police arrest suspect involved in the Nov. 14 incident in the 10 block of N. Fifth Street</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Sunday, Nov. 14, at approximately 4:12 p.m. Columbia Police arrested Todd Duron Nesbitt, 28, of Columbia, MO for the charges of armed criminal action and assault in the first degree. He was remanded to the custody of the Boone County Jail and is being held on no bond.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nesbittt was one of two suspects in a mass casualty incident that occurred early Sunday, November 14 at Vibez Lounge, 19 N. Fifth Street. Columbia Police intervened in that event while it was in progress. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"With the community’s help, detectives were able to quickly identify this suspect and take him into custody," said Police Chief Geoff Jones. "We are thankful for the community’s assistance, and this kind of relationship needs to continue if we’re going to take care of each other and keep Columbia safe," Jones said. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">At approximately 3:03 a.m. on Nov. 14 officers were in the immediate area of Vibez Lounge, as well as in other parts of downtown, managing crowd dynamics and monitoring overall safety. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Officers heard shots and observed two people exchanging gunfire. One of the suspects fled from the scene on foot. It was later determined that the suspect was Nesbitt.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Officers also saw a male running south on N. Fifth Street and firing a weapon north into a crowd of people, endangering those in the path behind him. Two officers fired their service weapons, killing the man. Next of kin was notified.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Within 30 seconds, the Columbia Police Department asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol for assistance. By 3:04 a.m. emergency medical services were </span><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">en route</span></em><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">By 3:05 a.m. officers notified Boone County Joint Communications that they had located five other victims injured by gunfire. Officers assessed the victims’ condition and started providing trauma care. All of these victims received medical attention and were in stable condition yesterday. The Columbia Police Department does not have new information on the current condition of these victims.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">"Any incident resulting in death or serious injury touches the whole community, and we must work to heal and prevent further tragedies," Jones said. "Many people are hurting right now, and that goes for the injured persons, their loved ones and those of the deceased person, and this certainly affects our officers and their families," Jones said. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Consistent with Department policy and practice, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is conducting an independent investigation of the two involved officers. The Department’s Internal Affairs Unit also will conduct a review, and the two involved officers will not be working the street during the investigation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is an ongoing investigation. More information may become available at a later time.</span></p>
