<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - As winter weather continues overnight in the area, City officials will utilize all available resources in responding to the storm and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our community members. <br /><br />Updates will continue to be posted to CoMo.gov, as well as the City’s various social media accounts. The CoMo.gov live chat is open for after-hours questions until 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. <br /><br /><strong>Cancellations/Postponements</strong><br /><br />Ward Reapportionment Committee public hearing (Feb. 3)<br /><br /><strong>Roads</strong><br /><strong>Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov</strong><br /><br />Columbia Public Works snow plow crews continue to focus on keeping priority roads plowed to a passable state in response to an ongoing winter weather event. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the 32-person daytime crew ended its 12-hour shift and was relieved by a 33-person over
night crew.<br /><br />Due to the anticipated extreme low temperatures and the return of snowfall overnight, snow plow crews will face renewed challenges. Road salt loses some of its effectiveness at lower temperatures, and continued snowfall means that snow plow drivers will be required to repeatedly plow priority streets throughout the night to keep them passable. Please continue to avoid parking on first, second and third priority routes to allow plow drivers the space needed to do their work more quickly, efficiently and safely for everyone.<br /><br />Public Works encourages the public to avoid travel if at all possible. If you must drive, please keep your speed low and your headlights on. If you encounter a snow plow, please give the plow plenty of following distance and employ prudent winter weather driving habits.<br /><br />Public Works and City staff will continue to closely monitor road conditions and adjust operational plans as needed. mation will be available via press releases, on the City's social media pages and at CoMoSnow.com.<br /><br /><strong>Solid Waste</strong><br /><strong>Contact: Matt Nestor, Matthew.Nestor@CoMo.gov</strong><br /><br />Solid Waste plans to run Thursday residential curbside collection routes as scheduled. Any commercial trash and recycling that was not collected Wednesday, crews plan to collect on Friday, Feb. 4. Crews will also attempt to pick up commercial recycling on Friday. <br /><br /><strong>Transit</strong><br /><strong>Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov</strong><br /><br />As a reminder, all fixed-route and paratransit bus services have been canceled for Thursday, Feb. 3 due to the expectations for continued snowfall through the night. Conditions will continue to be monitored and a decision will be made on Thursday morning concerning the resumption of normal services for Friday, Feb. 4.<br /><br /><strong>Public Health</strong><br /><strong>Contact: Sara Humm,
