Roads
Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov

A 32-person City of Columbia Public Works plow crew continues to focus on priority routes since beginning their shift at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. They will be relieved by a new crew at 7 p.m. and will continue to alternate in 12-hour shifts. Plow crews will shift their focus to residential roads once priority roads have been plowed into a passable state and as conditions allow.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 20 degrees today and then fall to a low of around 12 degrees overnight, a factor that will cause road salt to lose some of its effectiveness. Additionally, pavement temperatures are also well below freezing, making for very slick roads and hazardous travel conditions.

Public Works encourages the public to refrain from travel if at all possible. Visibility has been reported to be an issue, so if you must drive, please keep your
speed low and your headlights on. Be ready to react to quickly changing conditions and be sure to allow extra time for your journey.

Because accumulations are now in excess of 2 inches, parking on snow routes has been prohibited. If you are parked on a snow route, please move your car to a non-priority route, or best of all, off the road entirely. Doing so will allow plow drivers the space needed to do their work more quickly, efficiently and safely for everyone. To receive text notifications when it snows 2 inches or more, and again when it is safe to resume parking on priority roads, please sign up for alerts at Nixle.com or by texting your zip code to 888-777. To determine which roads are priority roads, look for the red, white and blue snow route signs or visit CoMoSnow.com.

Public Works and City staff will continue to closely monitor road conditions and adjust operational plans as needed. Additional updates and information will be available vi
a press releases, on the City's social media pages and at CoMoSnow.com.

Transit
Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov

Fixed route and paratransit bus services have been canceled for Thursday, Feb. 3 due to the expectation for continued snowfall through the night. Conditions will continue to be monitored and a decision will be made on Thursday morning concerning the resumption of normal services for Friday, Feb. 4.
