<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display: inline;">City officials continue to utilize all available resources in responding to winter weather and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our community members. <br /><br />Updates will continue to be posted to CoMo.gov, as well as the City's various social media accounts. The CoMo.gov live chat is open for after-hours questions until 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3. <br /><strong><br />Cancellations/Postponements:</strong><br /><br />Ward Reapportionment Committee public hearing (Feb. 3)<br /><br /><strong>Roads</strong><br /><em><strong>Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov</strong></em><br /><br />Columbia Public Works continues to have a 51-person plow crew on duty Thursday, Feb. 3, in response to the current winter weather event. <br /><br />All priority routes have plowed to a passable condition, meaning at least one travel lane is accessible for a front wheel dr
ive vehicle at driving speeds well below the normal posted speed limits. <br /><br />The plow crew is currently focused on residential streets. Public Works will also be utilizing 25 dump trucks for the hauling off of snow from the downtown area.<br /><br />City plow crews' focus in residential areas has been to plow the city from the inside out, meaning that they will begin in sub-wards near the city's center and then progress outward from there toward city limits. City crews alternate their approach with each winter weather event, so with the next snowstorm, plow trucks will start on the outside edges of town and work inward. The goal of this alternating approach is to provide more equitable snow-clearing services for all residents.<br /><br />Roads are still snow-covered and slickness remains a concern. Please keep safe by avoiding all non-essential travel. If you must drive, please give yourself extra time so that you can drive slowly and appropriately for conditions
. <br /><br />Motorists are asked to avoid parking on roadways in order to allow plow drivers the ability to do their jobs more quickly, efficiently and safely for everyone. As a reminder, parking on snow routes is currently prohibited, as is typical for snow events where accumulations are greater than 2 inches.<br /><br /><strong>Solid Waste</strong><br /><em><strong>Contact: Matt Nestor, Matthew.Nestor@CoMo.gov</strong></em><br /><br />As a reminder, any commercial trash and recycling that was not collected Wednesday, crews plan to collect on Friday, Feb. 4.
