(COLUMBIA, MO) - City officials continue to utilize all available resources in responding to winter weather and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our community members.

Updates will continue to be posted to CoMo.gov, as well as the City’s various social media accounts.
Roads
Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov

Columbia Public Works has had a 51-person plow crew on duty since 7 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3 in response to the current winter weather event. Today’s plow crew will include workers from other departments such as Parks and Recreation, Sewer, and Water and Light who have offered their assistance.

With the expectation that snowfall will end by noon, plow crews will continue to treat first, second and third priority roads until they are rendered passable by a front-wheel drive vehicle. Once this has been achieved, plow drivers will then begin to treat residential roads.

Roads are still snow-covered and slickness remains a concern for the morning commute. If possible, please do not travel, which will give crews the time and space they need in order to work. Motorists are also encouraged to avoid parking on roadways in order to allow plow d
rivers the ability to do their jobs quickly, efficiently and safely for everyone. As a reminder, parking on snow routes is currently prohibited, as is typical for snow events where accumulations are greater than 2 inches.

Property owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks adjacent to their property clear, and we urge all community members to clear sidewalks of snow and ice. City ordinance requires that sidewalks be kept clear of obstructions, including snow. We appreciate residents’ cooperation.

Public Works and City staff will continue to closely monitor road conditions and adjust operational plans as needed. Additional updates and information will be available via press releases, on the City's social media pages and at CoMoSnow.com.

Solid Waste
Contact: Matt Nestor, Matthew.Nestor@CoMo.gov

Solid Waste plans to run Thursday residential curbside collection routes a
s scheduled. Any commercial trash and recycling that was not collected Wednesday, crews plan to collect on Friday, Feb. 4. Crews will also attempt to pick up commercial recycling on Friday.

Transit
Contact: John Ogan, John.Ogan@CoMo.gov

As a reminder, all fixed-route and paratransit bus services have been canceled for Thursday, due to the expectations for continued snowfall through the night. Conditions will continue to be monitored and a decision will be made on Thursday morning concerning the resumption of normal services for Friday, Feb. 4.

Public Health
Contact: Sara Humm, Sara.Humm@CoMo.gov

As a reminder, Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, 1005 W. Worley, will be closed to the public Wednesday, Feb. 2, and Thursday, Feb. 3. COVID-19 work will continue and the Information Hub will be updated both
days.

Parks and Recreation
Contact: Tammy Miller, Tammy.Miller@CoMO.gov

Due to the forecast of additional snow and road conditions, Columbia Parks and Recreation will not open these indoor recreation facilities on Thursday:
