<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">City of Columbia plow crew to report at 5 a.m. on Feb. 17 to respond to winter weather</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia Public Works will have a 37-person plow crew reporting for duty at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 to respond to the arrival of winter weather. Current expectations are for rain to transition into freezing rain prior to sunrise on Thursday, and motorists should be aware of the potential for slickness as this changeover occurs. Please drive slowly and be prepared to react to rapidly changing conditions.<br /><br />Crews will focus their initial efforts on the treatment of first and second priority roads. Current projections are for 3 to 7 inches of accumulation, with precipitation expected to end by Thursday evening.<br /><br />Whenever snow accumulates more than 2 inches, any vehicle parked on a designated snow route must be moved off of the roadway or risk a fine of $100 plus towing and storage charges. The purpose of this rule is to allow plow drivers the space needed to do their
  work more quickly, efficiently and safely for everyone. To be notified when this rule goes into effect, please sign up for alerts at Nixle.com or by texting your zip code to 888-777.<br /><br />Go COMO bus service will have a delayed start at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. Buses will run until 6 p.m. Public Works will continue to monitor changing winter weather conditions and will provide service updates on social media and in the announcements section of the Go COMO app.<br /><br />Public Works and City staff will continue to closely monitor road conditions and adjust operational plans as needed. As winter weather can be unpredictable, residents are encouraged to closely monitor the forecast and changing road conditions throughout the mid-Missouri area. We sincerely appreciate the cooperation of the community as Public Works strives to provide the best possible winter weather response to our residents.</div>
