<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police respond to barricaded subject at a residence at Oak Towers, 700 N. Garth Ave., March 1</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">On Tuesday, March 1 at approximately 5:40 a.m., Columbia Police responded to a report of a verbal disturbance at a residence inside Oak Towers, 700 N. Garth Ave. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Patrol officers arrived and made contact with an adult male who had barricaded himself inside his residence. Officers confirmed that the subject already had fired shots and that shots continued to be fired during the incident, so they established a secure perimeter. There were no injuries resulting from the subject, nor did Columbia Police discharge their firearms. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">CPD’s Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) and SWAT responded due to the public safety concern. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A negotiator with the CNT established effective communication with the subject which caused him to be taken into custody without further incident. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The subject was transported to a local health facility for evaluation. After receiving appropriate health services, the subject will be arrested for armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is an ongoing investigation. More information may become available at a later time.</span></p>
