<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">UPDATE: Columbia Police arrest suspect in connection to shots fired with injury in the area of the 600 block of Talon Drive, Feb. 16</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On May 27 Columbia Police arrested Koda Alshawn Coats, 35, of Columbia, for first-degree assault, armed criminal action and a federal probation violation warrant.<br /><br />Members of the Department’s Special Investigations Division and the U.S. Marshals Service had been attempting to locate Coats in relation to outstanding warrants for his arrest. The investigation led detectives to the 1400 block of South Sonora Drive. <br /><br />Members of the SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated to assist in Coats’ arrest. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office also provided assistance. After a short standoff, Coats surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.<br /><br />The arrest is connected to an incident that occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 16 when Columbia Police were dispatched to the area of the 600 block of Talon Drive in reference to a report of s
hots fired. <br /><br />During the investigation, it was learned that one adult male victim was transported to a local hospital in a personally owned vehicle. <br /><br />This is an ongoing investigation.
