<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">City of Columbia's Fire in the Sky set for July 4</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;">The City of Columbia’s 70^th annual Fourth of July Fire in the Sky celebration will be held at Stephens Lake Park this year.</p>

<p>The celebration kicks off with kids’ activities and crafts beginning at 6 p.m., live entertainment at Stephens Lake Amphitheater at 6:15 p.m. and multiple food trucks will open at 6:30 p.m.  </p>

<p>The festivities will be capped off with a fireworks display that will begin at 9:15 p.m., launched from the east side of the park. The fireworks will be choreographed to music, which will be played on the stage and simulcast on BXR 102.3.</p>

<p>"After moving the Fire in the Sky celebration around to various locations in recent years, we felt it was important to find park space large enough to safely accommodate the event and provide optimum viewing of the fireworks display," said Acting Parks and Recreation Director Gabe Huffington. "We evaluated Stephens Lake Park along with other locations and determined that there was ample space for activities as well as the necessary elevation for the fireworks display to be seen from multiple vantage points in the City."</p>

<p>As with other large public events at Stephens Lake Park such as Roots ‘n Blues and Art in the Park, the City of Columbia will close East Walnut to non-residential traffic that evening. The Columbia Police Department will provide traffic management support during the event, and residents who live on East Walnut will not need a pass to access the street that evening.  </p>

<p>The City is working with Boone Hospital to provide parking access for Fire in the Sky visitors. Many of the hospital’s parking lots will be available for public use for the event. GoCOMO Transit will provide a bus route from the following City parking garages to Stephens Lake Park: Fifth and Walnut, Eighth and Walnut, Eighth and Cherry, Tenth and Cherry, Sixth and Cherry, and Short Street. Garage parking is free on holidays. </p>

<p>Attendees are also encouraged to bicycle to the event. Bike racks will be available for use, cyclists should bring a bike lock. </p>

<p>Attendees are prohibited from bringing personal fireworks and barbecue grills to Fire in the Sky; alcohol is strongly discouraged. This is a family-friendly event; attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an evening celebrating with the community. </p>

<p>Fire in the Sky is made possible by generous sponsor donations from Columbia Insurance Group and Veterans United Home Loans as presenting sponsors. Other sponsors are: Columbia Cosmopolitan Luncheon Club, KOMU8, BXR102.3, KFRU1400, Columbia Missourian, Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Boone Health and the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).</p>
