<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia City Manager De'Carlon Seewood has named Kathy Baker the City's new human resources director. <br /><br />Baker has worked for the City for 25 years. She has been serving as the acting HR director since November 2021. <br /><br />"Kathy's years of experience demonstrate a deep knowledge of the City's organization and its Human Resources Department," Seewood said. "While the City considered many qualified candidates for this position, Kathy's recent tenure as acting director and the relationships that she has fostered with her colleagues over many years make her the ideal choice for this role." <br /><br />Baker will lead the department tasked with managing all aspects of the employee life cycle including recruitment and selection, orientation, benefits, wellness, and training.<br /><br />"It is an honor to be asked to serve in this role and a privilege to work with the talen
 ted and dedicated human resources team," Baker said.  "I look forward to engaging with our employees to achieve the City's goals in service to the community."<br /><br />Several major department initiatives are currently underway, including a comprehensive classification and compensation study, which the new director will be expected to implement. Additionally, the City is currently rebidding all insurance benefits.<br /><br />Baker will be sworn into the position during the Tuesday, July 5, City Council meeting. Her annual salary will be $146,300.</div>
