<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7 a.m., City of Columbia Public Works street crews are scheduled to install and repair speed humps and speed tables on the following city streets:<br /><br />
<ul>
<li>Limerick Lane</li>
<li>Louisville Drive</li>
<li>Proctor Drive</li>
<li>Smith Drive</li>
<li>Sudbury Drive</li>
</ul>
These traffic calming devices are designed to slow vehicle speeds as part of the City's Neighborhood Traffic Management program. More information about the program can be found at <a href="https://www.como.gov/public-works/street-division/traffic-management/neighborhood-traffic-management/">CoMo.gov/public-works/street-division/traffic-management/neighborhood-traffic-management/</a>.<br /><br />Traffic calming on Smith and Louisville drives was approved by City Council after an interested parties meeting on March 22, 2022, and a public hearing on June 6, 2022. The estimated investment for the project is $151,975, paid for with annual traffic calming funds. When complete, final construction associated with the project will include speed humps, along with flashing pedestrian beacons, crosswalks, enhanced safety markings, signage and concrete work. Completion of this work will continue throughout the fall. More information is available at <a href="https://como.gov/webapps/cipweb
/display_project.php?project_id=2171">CoMo.gov/webapps/cipweb/display_project.php?project_id=2171</a>.<br /><br />Traffic calming on Proctor Drive was approved by City Council after interested parties meetings on Sept. 13, 2021, and Jan 31, 2022, and a public hearing on April 4, 2022. The estimated investment for the project is $30,000, paid for with annual traffic calming funds. More information is available at <a href="https://como.gov/webapps/cipweb/display_project.php?project_id=2249">CoMo.gov/webapps/cipweb/display_project.php?project_id=2249</a>.<br /><br />The speed humps being installed on Limerick Lane and Sudbury Drive are part of regular street maintenance to replace existing speed humps that have deteriorated over time. Funding for their replacement will come from the 2022 fiscal year street maintenance budget.<br /><br />Crews plan to work daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and temporary lane closures will be required. Street crews will keep at least one lane open to t
raffic at all times. Traffic control signs and flaggers will be present to assist motorists through work zones as needed. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution when in work zones.<br /><br />Installation is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 5 p.m., weather permitting.</div>
