<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - The City of Columbia has narrowed the search for its next public works director to three highly qualified candidates. <br /><br />The City's public works director is responsible for overseeing the designing, building, operating and maintenance of the City's streets, bridges, sidewalks, and parking infrastructure, as well as public transit. <br /><br /><strong><br />Eric H. Stevens</strong> has more than 25 years of public works experience, providing administrative and engineering support services to a variety of municipal governments. During that time, he has worked as a private-sector consulting engineer and as a mid-level manager within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. <br /><br />Stevens earned a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Juris Doctorate. He is a licensed professional engineer and a certified project management professional. <br /><strong
><br />Martin Gugel</strong> has served as the assistant director of public works for Springfield, Missouri, for the past seven years, with experience in managing all areas of public works, including planning, organizing and directing the activities of the Project Development section of public works, which includes transportation engineering, traffic engineering, stormwater engineering and construction inspection. He has been with the City of Springfield for more than 15 years, after five years with the Missouri Department of Transportation, and five years working for private consultants.<br /><br />Gugel holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is registered as a professional engineer in the state of Missouri, and is certified as a professional traffic operations engineer.<br /><strong><br />Shane Creech</strong> has 22 plus years of civil engineering experience, with approximately 18 years of that in the pub
lic sector. Creech started his post college career at a consulting firm in the Kansas City area, which specialized in highway and municipal roadway design, along with some community trail design work. From there he worked as an engineer at the City of Overland Park, Kansas, before returning to Columbia as the manager of design and construction at Boone County Public Works. In 2008, Creech started work at the City of Columbia in the Public Works department where he has been for more than 14 years. <br /><br />Creech attended college at the University of Missouri, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in the states of Kansas and Missouri.<br /><br /><br />Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet these candidates during a meet and greet Thursday, Sept. 15, at REDI Hub, 500 E. Walnut St., Suite 105, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Light appetizers will be provided.</div>
