<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - <p style="display:inline;"><strong>Date and time: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sept. 9 at approximately 12:05 p.m.</span></p>
<p><strong>Location: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">I-70 Westbound near mile marker 123.4</span></p>
<p><strong>Vehicle 1: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">2020 Dodge Grand Caravan, Minivan</span></p>
<p><strong>Driver 1: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ruzana R. Tadzhibayev, 30, Columbia, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">was wearing her seatbelt and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.</span></p>
<p><strong>Vehicle 2: </strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">2021 Hyundai Palisade Sport Utility Vehicle</span></p>
<p><strong>Driver 2:</strong> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Wayne W. Simmons, 84, Boonville, was wearing his seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries.</span></p>
<p><strong>Incident Details:</strong> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 2 were traveling westbound on Interstate 70, in the driving lane of traffic, near the 123.4 mile marker. As Vehicle 2 slowed for heavy traffic ahead, Vehicle 1 struck the back of Vehicle 2, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway on the north side of Interstate 70. A passenger in Vehicle 2 was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Driver 2 was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Driver 2 was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Next of kin has been notified.</span></p></div>
