<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px; margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police arrest suspect in potential hostage situation on Lyon Street, Oct. 25</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia Police arrested Christopher John Crane, 32, of Columbia, for third-degree domestic assault, second-degree kidnapping, order of protection violation and resisting arrest for a felony.<br /><br />The arrest is connected to an incident that occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Oct. 25, when officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Lyon Street in response to a reported potential hostage situation. Officers learned that an adult female had texted a friend that she did not feel free to leave a residence.<br /><br />Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the individuals inside the residence. An adult male later identified as Crane briefly exited the residence and then barricaded himself inside. Shortly after, the adult female was able to leave the residence without incident.<br /><br />Officers attempted to convince Crane to exit the residence, but he refused. After approximatel
y two and a half hours, officers entered the residence and were able to take him into custody.<br /><br />Crane was also arrested for fourth-degree domestic assault, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree harassment and two counts of order of protection violation in connection to an urgent check welfare incident Columbia Police responded to on Sept. 22.<br /><br />The Department again extends its thanks to the community for its patience as we handled the situation.<br /><br />If you know something, say something.
