<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police arrest suspect in connection to homicide in the 2700 block of Blue Ridge Road, Nov. 14</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia Police have arrested Montez Lee Williams, 31, of Columbia, for first-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, child endangerment and resisting arrest.<br /><br />The arrest is in connection to an incident that occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, when officers with the Columbia Police Department were dispatched to the 2700 block of Blue Ridge Road in reference to a death investigation. Officers were advised an individual discovered a vehicle running in the area and believed the driver was deceased.<br /><br />Upon arrival, officers determined the occupant of the vehicle, an adult female, was deceased due to an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as April Joann Brooks, 42, of Cuba, Missouri. Next of kin has been notified.<br /><br />Following the discovery of the body, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division began their
  investigation and developed probable cause to arrest Montez Lee Williams, 31, of Columbia. <br /><br />The Department extends its thanks to everyone who came forward with information and video evidence that helped in our investigation. <br /><br />The Department would like to bring attention to the fact that many of the recent homicides investigated by Columbia Police have included elements of domestic violence. If there’s a chance that you, a loved one or anyone else in our community is experiencing an abusive or unsafe relationship, you can contact True North at 1.800.548.2480.<br /><br />True North is one of our community partners that specializes in providing a wide array of services to victims of domestic or sexual violence. This includes a shelter open 24/7 specifically for victims of domestic or sexual violence.<br /><br />In the event of an emergency, always call 911. The Columbia Police Department is dedicated to supporting victims of domestic or sexual violen
