<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police arrest suspect in connection to robbery in 1100 block of Business Loop 70 East, Jan. 5</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - On Jan. 10 at approximately 11 a.m. Columbia Police officers arrested Jawan Avant, 27, of Columbia, for first-degree robbery. He is currently in the custody of the Boone County Jail.<br /><br />Avant’s arrest is in connection to an incident that occurred Jan. 5 at approximately 8:06 p.m., when Columbia Police were dispatched to a report of a robbery at Passions Adult Boutique in the 1100 block of Business Loop 70 East. <br /><br />It was reported that the suspect, later identified as Avant, had entered the business armed with a handgun and fired one shot into the ceiling. He demanded money from the cashiers and took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing from the scene on foot.<br /><br />During the course of the investigation, our detectives identified Avant as the suspect in the case and developed probable cause for his arrest.<br /><br />The Department is grateful for community membe
