<div style="font-size: 110%; line-height:150%;"><h1 style="clear:both; margin-top: 75px;  margin-bottom: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-size: 130%;">Columbia Police respond to barricaded subject at a residence in the 700 block of Woodridge Drive, Feb. 3</h1>
<div class="content"><span style="padding-left: 50px;">(COLUMBIA, MO)</span> - Columbia Police arrested James Scott Duncan, 58, of Columbia, for first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed criminal action.<br /><br />At approximately 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 3 Columbia Police responded to a reported disturbance with shots fired in the 700 block of Woodridge Drive. Upon arriving, officers were able to safely escort an individual out of the residence and learned that an adult male suspect had barricaded himself inside.<br /><br />Multiple resources were called to the scene to help resolve the situation, including the Department’s Crisis Negotiation Team, embedded Community Behavioral Health Liaison and the SWAT team.<br /><br />After efforts to make contact with the suspect proved ineffective, the decision was made to deploy CS gas, more commonly known as tear gas, into the residence. When the suspect still did not leave the residence, officers entered the h
 ome and the suspect surrendered peacefully. <br /><br />The Department is thankful for the assistance of the Columbia Fire Department in responding to this situation, as well as the public for their patience as we handled this incident.<br /><br />This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652 or CrimeStoppers at 573.875.TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.<br /><br />
